Terms of Service
Last Updated: 16 April 2026
Welcome to TapHTML ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing our dashboard, signing up for an account, or embedding our chat widget script on your website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.
1. Service Description
TapHTML provides a free, open-source live chat widget and accompanying dashboard. Our service allows website owners and their teams to communicate with their website visitors in real-time. The core source code is publicly available on GitHub at https://github.com/prodsaas/taphtml. We utilize third-party content delivery networks (such as Cloudflare) to ensure the fast and secure delivery of our assets.
2. Account Registration
To use the widget, you must register via our dashboard using Google OAuth or an email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the widget to transmit spam, malware, or malicious code.
- Use the service to collect sensitive personal information (such as credit card numbers or medical data) from your visitors without proper authorization and security measures.
- Attempt to disrupt, overwhelm, or reverse-engineer the hosted service infrastructure.
4. Data Processing and Responsibilities
You (the website owner) are the Data Controller of the information collected through the chat widget on your website. TapHTML acts solely as a Data Processor. It is your responsibility to ensure that your own website has a valid Privacy Policy that informs your visitors that you use a third-party service (TapHTML) to process chat communications and visitor metrics.
5. Open Source and "As Is" Disclaimer
TapHTML is an open-source project provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive for reliability, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the uptime, functionality, or error-free operation of the dashboard or widget. You acknowledge that the service relies on third-party infrastructure providers and we are not liable for regional outages caused by these providers.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TapHTML, its contributors and its maintainers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the service, including but not limited to lost profits, data loss, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
7. Changes to Terms
Because our codebase and service evolve, we reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the widget or dashboard after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
