Terms of Service

Last Updated: 30 May 2026

Welcome to TapHTML (that's us). By accessing our dashboard, signing up for an account, installing our browser extensions, or embedding our chat widget script on your website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

1. Service Description

TapHTML is a free, open-source live chat platform. Our service includes a dashboard, browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, and the core chat widget. The source code is publicly available on GitHub at https://github.com/prodsaas/taphtml. Our infrastructure is hosted in Berlin, Germany, utilizing Cloudflare for global delivery. Our service also includes optional notification integrations (Web Push, Slack, Discord, and Telegram) and email communication features (Gmail) managed via the dashboard.

2.1 Account Registration & Authentication

To use the service, you must register via our dashboard using Google OAuth, Passkeys, or name, email and password. Upon authentication, we issue secure tokens to manage your session across the dashboard and browser extensions. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication methods (including passwords and physical security keys) and for all activities that occur under your account.

2.2 Third-Party Integrations

If you enable notification alerts via Slack, Discord, or Telegram, or connect your Gmail account to send replies, data will be transmitted through these third-party platforms. Their respective terms and privacy policies will also apply to those transmissions.

2.3 Anti-Spam Commitment

TapHTML is committed to a spam-free experience. We will never use your contact information (Email) or enabled communication channels (Web Push, Slack, Discord, Telegram, or Gmail) to send marketing materials, advertisements, or any form of unsolicited spam. Communications from us are strictly limited to functional service alerts, essential account updates, or critical security notifications.

3. Acceptable Use

4. Data Processing and Responsibilities

You (the website owner) are the Data Controller of the information collected through the chat widget on your website. TapHTML acts solely as a Data Processor. Regulations regarding the collection and use of personal data vary by country and region, including but not limited to GDPR in the EU, CCPA in the USA, and similar laws worldwide. It is your responsibility to ensure that your own website has a valid Privacy Policy that informs your visitors that you use a third-party service (TapHTML) to process chat communications and visitor metrics in compliance with your local regulations.

5. Open Source and "As Is" Disclaimer

TapHTML is an open-source project provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While we strive for reliability, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the uptime, functionality, or error-free operation of the dashboard or widget. You acknowledge that the service relies on third-party infrastructure providers (including hosting in the EU and global CDN services) and we are not liable for regional outages caused by these providers.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TapHTML, its contributors and its maintainers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the service, including but not limited to lost profits, data loss, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Changes to Terms

Because our codebase and service evolve, we reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
